Ho Chi Minh City is currently facing a critical shortage of radiopharmaceuticals needed for PET/CT scans, crucial in diagnosing and treating cancer.
The city's only facility capable of producing these radiopharmaceuticals is located at Cho Ray Hospital, whose outdated cyclotron system can no longer meet the growing demand.
The shortage has left cancer patients in the city waiting days, sometimes weeks, for a PET/CT scan, while some have even sought treatment in other provinces or abroad.
